Goodbye Laura Kennedy, No Creeps Where You Are

In the early 1980s, I was heavy into the no New York scene, but I preferred jazz guys like James Chance and arty eccentrics like Teenage Jesus and the Jerkoffs. The Bush Tetras slithery, disquieting , moves on its stomach funk, I didn't like.

So I ripped em apart in Zig Zag and the one time I met Bush Tetras bassist Laura Kennedy she snubbed me. And I don't really blame her -I was reacting to all the raves, plus, I really couldn't hear it.

Eventually, it clicked in and I happily admit my ears let me down. Laura Kennedy died earlier this week after a 20 year battle with Hepitatus C. An important figure in the No New York scene and a reportedly very nice person, this was sad news.
