You know how sometimes you are part of a group of friends and there is one guy you don’t know very well, he hangs out with you sometimes, but you aren’t as close with him as everyone else is. Everyone else gets invited to his birthday blow out and exchanges Christmas gifts and know his family, and you are on a “hey wassup” basis and don’t like him very much.
That’s how I feel about Maxwells.
A two hour trip from my place to go to a club no different than a million other clubs. And not just far but also a bitch to get back to the city at 1am. Worse, if you’re drinking.
So, yeah, it is dying but I am not losing sleep.
Still, I was thinking of just saying goodbye one night and then came word that one of my favorite rock bands, who I haven’t seen live in over a year, are playing a matinee (3pm) show on Sunday July 21st and , you know, I could see em both!

Plus the “Because The Night” (Grade: A) single with Garbage, a tremendously powerful version, with Marissa and Shirley harmonizing and the bands all crunchy riffs on the chorus. It is really awesome.
I kinda took Screaming Females for granted because they were always around and so missed my last couple of chances to catch em but I won’t miss them this time. Plus, I can say goodbye to Maxwells at the same time. Visit the sick bed and miss the funeral.
