Clothing lines are taking over the world. There was a time when there were a handful of cool clothing designs (think Boy of London) and now- everyone seems to be a fashionista. I actually think this isn’t a bad thing. Some clothing lines such as Drop Dead inspired by Olli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon is actually quite adorable. There are others though that are glorified band T’s and there are only so many of those that I can stomach. Glamour Kills reigns supreme in this nitch. Rocker clothing with a high price tag. When you’re dropping $80.00 for a zipped hoodie you can’t help but wonder where the DIY of rock and roll has gone. They call this ‘lifestyle’. I call it cash in on the kids while their parents are still paying. As if clothing weren’t enough now GK has a touring holiday show (which isn’t too shabby!) and an ezine, yup.
"We Are GK" ,a 32-page magazine will feature artists Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Tay Jardine of We Are The In Crowd, Dan 'Soupy' Campbell of The Wonder Years, Craig Owens of Chiodos, The Jane Doze, Jordan Witzigreuter of The Ready Set and Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, sporting their winter collection and talking about their music. Is anyone reading magazines anymore? Where does a catalog become a magazine anyway
From what I can tell this is nothing more than glossy advertising, and the artists blurbs are just a way to shift the description. There will be paper editions that will be shipped out with online clothing orders, but by then you’ve already made your purchase- suppose that starts your list for ‘what’s next’ purchases.
