Four Year Strong is a heap of fuzzy guys from Worcester MA. A hardcore, no no wait maybe I better watch my freakin step with the category.. power pop post punk puke poison what fucking ever, since 2001. Me, I fell in love with them just recently but I am beside myself to be meeting them and seeing their holiday show this Sunday at the Worcester Palladium.
Last night they released a new song “It Must Suck To Be FYS Right Now” , OK now I USED to be excited for Christmas but now screw that is it 12/27 yet? If this is the direction these guys are heading I’m packing my hobo bag and following. It is a fine art to scream your ass off and slam down headbanging mayhem but its a whole other bag of throat lozenges to do it melodically and precisely.
Again my love for the drummer deepens. I’m not sure why I overlooked the mighty beat keeper all these years, but suddenly I am realizing the incredibly taxing job this is. I guess Ive spent too much time looking at the front of the stage to realize the unsung drummer sweating his ass off behind the kit. Ok apparently Jake is the drummer here. Who needs the gym when you’re slamming out this stuff. My God its freakin mind boggling and again if anyone is paying attention I WANT A FREAKIN DRUM KIT FOR CHRISTMAS.
And I mean it cuz not one of these guys is cute. Based solely on talent I am over the top for Four Year Strong. Ill also mention that they do adorable covers of Semi Charmed Sorta Life and Absolutely (Story of a Girl) both on their myspace free for the listening. Just don’t look at them cuz they sorta resemble Yukon Cornelius in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or some other Paul Bunyon looking lumberjack.
