Fake Coachella Line Up's Abound! -by Alyson Camus

The Coachella lineup we posted yesterday is a fake, for a little while it looked cool, way too cool to be true in fact.

But it really looked credible, Kayne West, Daft Punk, and Arcade Fire have already played Coachella in the past, so they could play again, right?
Especially, the poster looked authentic because it was one of the headlines of The Arcade Fire Daily, tweeted every day by a user named Arcade Fire News.

The newsletter is updated each day and I didn’t really think about the way this thing worked… So when I realized the lineup had to be made-up, I found it strange that something made-up would figure on a newsletter that looks so official.

I decided to send a tweet to Arcade Fire News who answered me that the paper was generated automatically using an algorithm. Wow, so that’s how it works! Anything posted about Arcade Fire on the web is blindly collected and assembled to make this daily newspaper!
When I said to this person that the newspaper was advertising a fake lineup, Arcade Fire News answered ‘I assume people can work out it’s fake.’ And then added ‘Oh and I’d say the chances of them [Arcade Fire] being in the real lineup anyway — pretty high.’

This person also said that ‘rumours are running rife and more than usual for it to be some bogus claim’, and adding that if they play the festival, Arcade Fire would almost certainly be a headliners.

But, I don’t know how well this person is informed, seeing how he or she allows information to be collected for the so-called newsletter, and how rumors are allowed to be regarded as real news.http://paper.li/ArcadeFireNews/1290628503
