Facebook A Hotbed Of Fake Celebrities: Will The Real Mick Fleetwood Please Leave A Message

"Mick, I just got a comment on a post that this really isn't Mick Fleetwood. I don't want to believe that because we've been Facebook friends for over a year and gone thru your page being hacked a bunch of times, Stevie's Mother passing and other things and jokes. Please message me the truth. No message, I may believe the non-believers and at 60 that would really make me lose my faith."

In the past few weeks Facebook have been wondering incessantly whether I am friends with any number of the rich and famous. Naturally, I am not at all, no, neither Keith Richards nor Patti Hansen are acquainted of me, and we have zero friends in common. But, being the rebel without a cause that I am., I friend away. And. lo and behold, from time to time somebody responds! I now count Steve Nieve (when he sent out a request asking his friends how I know him, I ignored him) and Linda Thompson, who was very nice if not very interested on FB.

And Mick Fleetwood, or is it Mick at all? The Mac drummer may be a fake, and me, I bet quite a few of them all. Because, really, why would Theresa Richards not wanna be my friend? It makes no sense… Actually, the first proof it is the real thing is when they don't friend you Next, if they send you a message that their friends list is filled but  you can like their friend page it is prolly the real thing.

But Mick Fleetwood? If it was really the great drummer, why is he living in Coal City, Ill??? And where is his friends and family, why is it mostly him and friends? As for the man above who feels ripped off. Does it really make any difference who he has been talking to in the greater meaning of the word? It's like the Simpsons episode where a man in a mental institution believes he is Michael Jackson and helps Bart write a song. In the end, the song gets written, does the mans identity make so much difference.

Mick has 5,000 friends and the question came up because somebody asked Mick FB a personal question FB Mick couldn't answer: "….the reason I said that is I sent a private message with question only Mick would know the answers and it was never answered….I hope it is Mick….I met him in 1968….and the last time we spoke was in1997….he moved and his number was disconnected…..let's keep our fingers crossed….did you know Mick owns Fleetwoods on Front in Hawaii? If not check it out on FB.."

Since I only got friended last week, I don't particularly care. More, if he hasn't harmed people but in fact helped them, it is hard to get too devastated. The gentleman above should accept the mystery and not worry too much and if people ask him if he is Mick's friend he can nod his add with the wise caveat: "Yes, I am good friends… on Facebook". The answer I tend to use when folks ask me about God.
