Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the ex-queen of France as some people call her, has a musical career, kind of, and she now thinks she could be Bono or Geldof. The ex-model turned pop singer turned first lady, who once dated Eric Clapton then Mick Jager, has recorded four albums, and she is now at the head of the project ‘Christmas Is Here’ with the label Mercury Music Group of Universal. Other stars are participating, including Vanessa Paradis (Johnny Depp’s ex), Louis Bertignac and Jean-Louis Aubert (founders of the French rock band Téléphone), Lou Doillon (Jane Birkin’s daughter), Izia Higelin (Jacques Higelin’s daughter), Thomas Dutronc (Jacques Dutrons and Françoise Hardy’s son), and new French rock stars Zaz, Shakaponk, BB Brunes as well as rapper Joey Starr. There were rumors that French veteran rock star Johnny Hallyday and even Daft Punk would join, but apparently they declined… But good for them!
The proceeds of the sales for ‘Noël Est Là’ or Christmas Is Here’ will go to Band Aid to help fight Ebola in West Africa, and Sir Geldof even appeared on French TV to support the cause with Carla… the problem is that her image in France couldn’t be worst, she has been called ‘la reine des bobos’ (‘the queen of rich hipsters’) and let’s just say that her husband didn’t leave France’s finances in very good shape… One of Sarkozy’s first acts was to give himself a pay rise after becoming president in 2007, more than doubling his wage to some $330,000 a year, then, in July 2014, he was taken into police custody for questioning as part of an inquiry into alleged abuse of power. Nice! Meanwhile Bruni is the heiress to an Italian tire fortune, and she has had her own troubles with her charitable foundation, whose website cost 410,000 euros to set up… taken from taxpayers’ pockets! These people are crooks and they dare to ask for money in exchange of some of her crappy little French songs under the pretext of a phony charity?
And I though France had beheaded this kind of people centuries ago! But they keep coming back, and Carla is some wannabe royalty who only works for her interest and image.
