Neon Trees just feels like a one-hit wonder band.
They released a new tune called "Everybody Talks" and it is actually pretty great. "Animal" being their single, I expected the song to be nearly identical- that's usually how bands like that end up. I was happily mistaken.
The punchy melody definitely puts this song ahead of "Animal" from the start simply originality-wise. His voice is strong and versatile, providing just the right amount of power to really drive the tune and make you want to listen all the way through, and hit repeat. The instruments are tightly woven together, really making the perfect back track for the clever lyrics. Everything's so compact, tight, and radio worthy- and then the chorus comes.
The chorus is absolutely perfect, it's above and beyond any expectations I've ever had for Neon Trees. It's totally sing-in-the-shower worthy, because it's very fun to sing. His voice is so dynamic and wonderful in the chorus, and I can't stop listening to it. The whole song has a very free and fun party feel. I don't doubt that their next album is going to be just as positively fantastic as "Everybody Talks".
