The King was magical He still is actually. I have witnessed many a Tribute Week and I can tell you right up and honest it is the freakiest freak show of all time.
In 1972 Elvis did a series of sold out shows at Madison Square Garden, sellouts all of them. Over 80,000 tickets were sold for this amazing run.
Well apparently some goofy fan had a camera and now, its been digitized and cleaned up and its going to be unveiled at tribute week this month in Memphis. Fear not if you cant make the parade. The dvd will be available in a new box set collectors kit (as if there werent a million) of these MSG gigs. The "Prince From Another Planet' title was taken from the original NY Times review of the show.
This two CD set and its accompanying DVD are a pretty good score. Great track listing and some fun video footage. Along with the concert film on the DVD is another video document, the press conference that took place on Friday afternoon before the big weekend. Attended by Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis' father, Vernon Presley, Elvis wins over the New York press corps with his good-natured hillbilly swagger
