So we know that Muse’s song, ‘Survival’, was chosen for the London Olympics games, but in an interview with KROQ, Matt Bellamy explained how it happened:
‘Well actually, believe it or not, Elton John gave us a call and wanted to write a song for the Olympics. At one time Elton John was actually the director of the music for the Olympics. He contacted us and we thought ‘This is far out! We’re going to do a song for the Olympics with Elton John?!’
I guess the big revelation is that Elton John was the director of music for the Olympics! But Bellamy also continued by saying Elton John had a fall out with the organizers so the project never went anywhere. However, the Olympic committee still wanted the song and shamefully made it the official theme,… I mean I hate the song, but that’s just me.
Meanwhile, Muse has revealed the artwork and tracklist of their upcoming album ‘The 2nd Law’, but has postponed its release from September 17 to until October, very probably for commercial reason,… the Killers have also an upcoming album in September.
I haven’t watched much of the Olympics, but I have not heard ‘Survival’ once, the few times I got a glimpse of the coverage on TV, that's weird for an official theme!… but imagine the rocket man singing on this pompous disaster? It could have been something, actually, I can’t imagine something more comical.
