Eating Out are called a 'punk' band or 'grunge punk' band and are from Vancouver BC. That alone is reason to hate. The 90's are over and well they should be. There was allot of good that came from that decade but really.. nah.
So I hit the play button all ready to hate these guys and really use this as a sounding board for just bitching in general. The opening scene of the hip girls in the shopping cart really added to my pre planned hatred of this band I have never heard of. Then something awkward happened, once the song opened up I couldn't help but be completely engaged in the song. Ok, the video is stupid teen party night nonsense, inspired by Project X or something but the song really does have that 90s vibe, but the good part.
Similar to The Pixies, maybe Eating Out has a nice fuzzy industrial sound that doesn't sound karaoke. In fact it sounds new and interesting which is incredibly surprising. Its hard to reinvent the wheel, and this is nothing really new but for some reason their delivery or the tempo- its rejuvenated and really very good.
Taking a look at other recordings by this band you find that same common element. Will they find fame? Nah, they're going to have a strong underground following and do incredible amounts of touring until they call it quits but in the mean time they're offering up some amazing sound that you should be a part of. If the video annoys you just listen to it here
