Hey there is nothing cooler than heading in to your favorite food joint and ordering up something named after your favorite people, movies or musical acts. Generally inspired by the subject we’ve all seen the the typical ‘Godfather’ inspired Italian meals but how fun is it that a couple of New York joints are serving up indie artists?
Cinnamon and Lesbians”, the new Stephen Malkmus-inspired ice cream will be scooped up at Momofuku Milk Bar in NYC starting on January 7th. This is just the start of their ‘inspired’ adding to their bad ass offerings of ‘crack pie’ and a zillion cereal mixes. But wait how about Animal Collective?
Considering that I am not a fan and the whole hipster seen sorta makes me ill it is appropriate that it be chock full of dead flesh. This pizza contains tasso ham, chicken, andouille meatballs, and pepperoni, all hosted on a Sicilian crust. Lovely no? Get it, Animal Collective? It’s idiotic and cruel and I hope someone besides me calls them out (PETA can ya hear me?) But it’s in Williamsburg so hey maybe all the pasty art scene will stage a sit in..no wait, thats a local Starbucks.
The pie house called Two Boots opened up in the former Diggs spot and according to Phil Hartman (not the dead one) “Driggs Pizza (a personal favorite of mine) was for sale and we’d been looking for the right spot to relaunch Two Boots in Brooklyn, with the Park Slope branch shutting down after 24 years.” Hartman notes that the Park Slope location was the only restaurant in the chain that had a different owner. The new Williamsburg Two Boots pizzeria will have a small beer and wine bar, plus a party room in the back and a garden space
Two Boots also offers “The Meg”, inspired by The White Stripes’ Meg White, and which comes in the form of a four-cheese white pie. Umm.. they can do better considering… WHERE THE HELL DID MEG GO?
