Hey now is that Brendon Urie? The lead vocal for Divided By Friday is a complete reincarnation of the Panic! At The Disco frontman.A holiday offering of the classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is a fitting tune for this Hopeless Records band. The song is done completely traditional. No breakdowns no hardcore injection. Rather just a simple pop Christmas tune done just as it was intended. This one is going on my playlist for the season. What a fabulous upbeat and heartfelt croon!
Right now Hopeless Records is streaming this 'Hopeless For The Holidays" four song EP. To me there is nothing cooler than traditional holiday tunes done by upcoming artists. Especially those with a different genre.
I mean there is Rhianna and Mariah and they're all well and good but when you get some 'alt' bands in on the mix it sounds so much more refreshed and energized. Considering these kids are young enough to still believe in flying reindeer, there's no doubt that the amplified enthusiasm is sincere.
Prior to this song I was unfamiliar with Divided By Friday but this little ditty has sparked my interest. Jose Villenueva and Matt Morgan carry the vocals and are absolutely contagious. Similar in vibe to many others such as Mayday Parade or All Time Low, Divided seems to have just a bit more nostalgic flair. I'm not so sure if its the similarly to Panic! At The Disco or if it really is a resurgence of early 2000 sound, I personally dig it.
