Theres nothing better than a great bands new album streaming. Thanks once again to NPR you can test drive this latest release.
This, Codes and Keys is the 7th album by this Washington State band. Often called 'emo' or 'indie' I would classify them as both, but not as insult. Ben Gibbard has the most vulnerable voice. "Home is A Fire"has an almost Beatle-esque feel. No, no I'm not comparing them at all that's absurd I'm saying it has a similar feel to it. The music is in multi layer and very pretty. What a great chorus as well. A great well rounded album with lots of different rhythms.
Best song? "Some Boys" worse song the title track "Codes and Keys".
But its time for you to decide for yourself. This album could win over new fans and delight existing fans. Narrow Stairs was very good and gave them their first 'hit' with " I Will Possess Your Heart", this should get them some radio play. The climate has changed, bands like Airborne Toxic Event, and Owl City have made whining boys palatable. Now its time to let the masters of this emotional shudder earn their just rewards. Hurray for Deatcab!
