How can you expect to have an ‘average’ life with the name Deana Martin? No doubt having a swinging cool daddy-o makes it near impossible to be ‘average’ anyway but the name beckons a career in song. A career in song is exactly what Deana has.
As tribute to her father and a skip down memory lane Martins shows accentuate the positive and give insight to life as a Martin. Although it wasn’t a world of on liners and romance tunes it was an almost stereotypical Italian/American American dream.
Deana was born in 1948 and at age 64 has been touring to sold out crowds in her quest to support the children’s charities her father favored. She will perform her the songs that made her dad an icon as well as those by other ‘Rat Pack’ members.
Her shows are multi media events peppered with tales of her childhood with people like Uncle Frank(Sinatra) and Uncle Sammy(Davis Jr) around. Why it must have been just swell. Yes, I said ‘swell’. I adore this era and if for one evening you can return to a simpler time, I say go for it.
Expect to hear loving renditions of Dino classics, “That’s Amore”, “Everybody Loves Somebody” and expect a light hearted sentimental journey. The show has been touring for eight years and will be doing a multi night stay at Feinstein’s at Lowes Regency. A real New York nightclub for a retro night. Her show runs through August 18th with 8pm performances and Iman will be there on Friday so we will have a full report.
