David Lynch had announced his collaboration with Nine Inch Nails a few weeks ago, and the result has just been served. But watch it at your own risk, this ride can ‘potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy’.
If this video may make some people dizzy, most of us will be left clueless, asking ourselves, was that necessary? We already had the song, a hard pounding electronic-dark dance, why do we have to watch this now? Because David Lynch himself offered his service?
I am not sure that the black and white blurry, pulsating, fuzzy, shaky madness made by Lynch for NIN’s ‘Came back Haunted’ is gonna please a lot of fans of either of them, and I thought the disgusting insect-like dancing figure in the first minute was one of the cockroaches that crawl in the middle of my living room,… yeah it’s hot as hell right now in Los Angeles, and this is what happens each time. Seriously, it looks like a trip on a bad insecticide while reaching the end of your TV channel scan. Then, these glimpses of Trent Reznor’s shaky face alternating with that ugly mouth and who-knows-what-else are honestly disturbing… and we got the doomed message, who needed an atomic mushroom?
May be I didn’t see the subliminal intentions, may be I am totally missing the point, but weren’t we entitled to expect something else from the union of these two creative minds?
