With only a picture of a mixing table posted on Twitter and Facebook, Queens of the Stone Age announced that Dave Grohl is playing drums on their next album! … And fans couldn't contain their enthusiasm, as in just a few hours, hundred and hundred of comments were posted.
According to NME and Pitchfork, Josh Homme has effectively declared on BBC Radio 1 that QOTSA’s drummer, Joey Castillo, had left the band and was replaced by the Foo Fighter’s frontman. But, nothing surprising there, as it is not the first time that Grohl is drumming for them, he was already doing so for their 2002 ‘Songs for the Dead’.
So would this explain why Grohl recently said that the Foo Fighters were taking a break? Honestly, I am not expert in drumming style, and I can't tell how this will affect the sound of the album, for me, QOTSA are badass, with or without Grohl!
But the fans’ anticipation is very well understood as the band hasn’t released anything since their 2007’s ‘Era Vulgaris’. However, nobody seems to know much about the upcoming album, not even the title, just that it will probably be released in 2013. But if you want a little more precision, let’s just say that a fan asked them on Twitter if they would release the album before they play England’s Download Festival mid June 2013, and QOTSA just answered ‘Good plan’.
