The former Georgia Satellites frontman Dan Baird and his band “Homemade Sin” played a fantastic two hour set at the Manchester Academy 3, Oxford Road, Manchester, England UK Friday bight. The Academy three has been around
since the 1980s and is a most intimate (450 capacity) and small warehouse type of venue.

The evening started at 8.00 pm  with a brilliant solo set by Jim Adama. This talented young musician was warmly received by the crowd and proved  to be the perfect warm up act for “Homemade Sin” who came on stage at 9.00 pm . The band consist of Dan Baird (guitar/ main vocals), Warner Hodges (lead guitar/ vocals), Keith Christopher (bass/ vocals) and Mauro
Magellan (drums). A fantastic two hour non-stop set of their customary country/ rock style was delivered to the  enthusiastic audience who sang along and danced the night away. The set was a mixture of old favourites and some
new tracks off the new album “Circus Life”.

Songs  included …

Damn Thing To Be Done
Julie & Lucky
I Love You Period
Two For Tuesday
Well Enough Alone
Dixie Beaux Deraunt
Keep Your Hands To Yourself
Little Darlin’
Long Way Down
Think It’s Time (Keith Christopher on main vocal)

Also included were a couple of Bob Dylan classics,  “Mighty Quinn” coupled with “Like A Rolling Stone” and a brilliant frenzied upbeat rendition of the Beatles/ Ringo favourite “Don’t Pass Me By”.

Dan and the band  stayed in the foyer for sometime afterwards to chat to the audience and sign copies of the new CD album, Circus Life – I am not sure who was the most exhausted the band or the audience… but one thing is for sure – everybody had a
fabulous night!
