Courtney Love is always in trouble, she is always pissing off someone and has always a lawsuit to take care of, right? Last September she publicly accused (on Twitter) her former attorney Rhonda Holmes of having being ‘bought off’ in regards to her investigation into the management of the Cobain estate. After lots of failed legal actions, she refilled a lawsuit alleging that Holmes had ‘committed legal malpractice, breached fiduciary duties, and intentionally interfered when she sent a letter to Love’s daughter Francis Bean Cobain in 2009’.
This resulted in Frances Cobain filling a restraining order against Love, and Love firing back on Twitter against Holmes in 2010,… and this just to let you know how long this story has been dragging on!
Holmes accused Love of libel, but the Hole’s singer’s defense was that these tweets were too vague and that her ‘they got to her’ tweet could have meant different things, and were not necessarily addressed to Holmes. Yes right! But on Friday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge didn’t buy it and decided that the lawsuit against Love filed by Homes would go forward because Twitter is a valid media: ‘Ms. Love has a big following and they all hang on everything she does and says and Tweets’, said judge Michael Johnson.
To let you appreciate what a phony character Courtney Love can be, in her legal documents, she pretended that her tweet ‘was never intended to be public, and upon learning it wasn’t a private message, immediately removed it’. So Courtney Love didn’t know what Twitter is? What a joke. She also said that ‘the entire Twitter Posting was hyperbole making light of Holmes’ constant attention-seeking, and not a statement of fact’… attention-seeking? Is it necessary to comment?
When I think about all the shitty things this woman has done in her life, defamatory tweets seem to be the lesser of all her crimes, but only Courtney Love could try to sue her former attorney and get sue in return.
A trial has been scheduled for January 13th, and for once I almost regret to not have jury duty!
