In rock nyc’s continuing attempts to post entertain writing about music without actually doing any work, here is a cut and paste job off rolling Stone.
New Year’s Eve Gigs and if you owned a Concord I bet you coulda make two or even three of them…
1. The Flaming Lips: Oklahoma City
2. Bruno Mars: New York
3. The Hold Steady: Milwaukee
4. Phish: New York
5. B.B. King: Atlantic City
6. The Black Keys with the Greenhornes: Chicago
7. Guided by Voices: New York
8. Patti Smith: New York
9. The Avett Brothers: Asheville, North Carolina
10. Chuck Berry: New York
11. Furthur: San Francisco
12. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings: New York
13. Drive-By Truckers: New York
14. Diplo with Major Lazer: Los Angeles
15. Gov’t Mule: New York
Or maybe just live in New York where you could catch Chuck Berry’s 8p set and then walk a coupla blocks and see Sharon Jones.
I am seeing Lauryn on January 1st so my gut is miss out on NYE but I worship Berry and the early set? Not bad , eh? BUT $100 -yuck.
So I am previcating…
If I didn’t have a job and had lotsa money?
Wednesday: Patti Smith
Thursday: Govt Mule
Friday: Chuck Berry and Sharon Jones
Saturday: Lauryn Hill
And people ask me why I don’t take the rest of the world very seriously.
