Suddenly I feel like rocknyc’s consumer reporter.
Live Nations are suspending their service fees.
Seriously? Iman can stop crying for all of June. Which makes me wonder how many shows will go on sale July first.
Live Nation’s June deal is pretty much the same as “No Service Charge” Wednesdays except it’s for the entire month of June,
Quoth the ticket God
“A fan in every seat is our mission this summer,” Live Nation President / CEO Michael Rapino said. “We know that’s tough in this economy, so it’s our job to find a way to make concerts more affordable.”
But only for 30 days then they’ll fuck us again.

My problem is not with service charges as such -obviously tcket handlers need to make a profit. My problem is with ticket handlers charging 40% to 60% on an average ticket. A $15 ticket from ticketweb can charge you $20. Also, I think it is out right theft to charge people for printing at home when everybody knows it is costing the ticket handlers nothing and saving them shipping or will call charges while they horde the most popular tix and sell em to the secondary market (which, like TicketsNow, they own themselves).
I recommend a flat 10% fee on tickets and service charge for will call, and mail only -and not a stupid no service charge month.
