The legendary E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons died today at the age of 69 following a stroke last week.
The man who played next to Bruce Springsteen, front and center, for so many years, the man who made "10th Avenue Freezeout" and his own outsized persona the face of the E Street Band leaves the rock world in mourning.
The E Street Band was formed in 1974 and Clarence was on all of it; he gave the great rock band an added depth, and an added complexion. I remember seeing him on the Tunnel Of Love tour, taking his boss in his stride as Bruce reminisce over the roads they've traveled together.
It is not enough to say Clarence was all over Born to Run, perhaps it is enough to add that he was all over Born This Way as well. See ya, Big Man…
