Christopher Owens: Very Into Girls But…
A coupla years ago I saw Girls open for Los Campesinos, that was before their debut album was released, and I claimed than they'd be big. And they were. But during the show lead singer Chris Owens tongue kissed his male bass player in reply to an audience member asking if he was gay.
Since then… well, among other things, Chris wrote a song for the soundtrack to a gay porn movie which you gotta think is pretty well out there. But still, his first solo album, Lysandra, is about a love affair with a woman. So what's the deal, Chris? That's what the New York Times Melana Ryzik aked Chris Owens here and this is his what she wrote: "Mr. Owens said he was “very attracted to women” and didn’t seek out relationships with men, but they happened."
PS the album is terrific as was the live show last year and if you love Chris as much as Alyson (who called Girls album her fave of 2011) or me for that matter, the interview is really smart and well researched and gets all the facts in one place which is exactly where we want them… The stuff about oil billionaire Stanley Marsh 3 is really interesting.
