In a recent interview with the Guardian, Chris Brown makes a big revelation without realizing it. The interviewer was asking him who he really was, and as he was brushing childhood memories about the small town where he was born, his parents who got divorced when he was 7, his stepfather who was beating the hell out of his mother, and his kindergarten teacher telling him he was smart, suddenly he dropped a bomb which almost stays unnoticed in this flow of talking:
Chris Brown lost his virginity when he was 8 years old to a girl who was 14 or 15!! This is how the story is narrated:
‘”Yeah, really. Uh-huh.” He grins and chuckles. “It’s different in the country.” Brown grew up with a great gang of boy cousins, and they watched so much porn that he was raring to go. “By that point, we were already kind of like hot to trot, you know what I’m saying? Like, girls, we weren’t afraid to talk to them; I wasn’t afraid. So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long run, so you can be a beast at it. You can be the best at it.” (Now 24, he doesn’t want to say how many women he’s slept with: “But you know how Prince had a lot of girls back in the day? Prince was, like, the guy. I’m just that, today. But most women won’t have any complaints if they’ve been with me. They can’t really complain. It’s all good.”)’
What?? It’s different in the country? Country or city, a 8 year-old boy is a 8 year-old boy, even he watches a lot of porn, this can’t be regarded as a prowess of a mature-beyond-his-age boy! Have you had a good look at an 8 year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl? They have completely different levels of maturity, one is a child, the other has passed puberty, huge difference!
A few websites have reacted to this declaration and declared that Brown was raped at the tender age of 8, and I agree. There is no way an 8 years old could realize what is happening to him at that age, and could consent to have sex!!
Now this isn’t an excuse for Chris Brown’s bad behavior, but all these stories that he tells as if they were the most casual things happening to children ‘in the country’, could well explain his bad boy behavior. An abusive stepfather, a child exposed to porn and rapped at 8? Don’t look further! Violence and especially sexual violence were part of his life at a very young age. Although this is never an excuse for girlfriend beating, we are left to wonder whether Brown had any choice at becoming what he has become.
