Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival Announces Summer Lineup

There’s  no other place with a greater reputation of being a hipster paradise, Brooklyn. Brooklyn is so hot it’s a wonder they let anyone in.  The college set have taken it over and made it THE place to be.  New music venues are everywhere and if you’re not reading about it you’re watching it on new television shows.   Let’s face it it’s the demographic.  Fresh out of school with gobs of student debt there’s no way to live in Manhattan, so Brooklyn it is and with great public transportation it works.  Save a few bucks and say you live in NYC.  But now it’s actually more cool to say you live in Brooklyn.  This aint the Patty Duke Show anymore.

That being said when you have a borough full of artists and young thought you get a fabulous atmosphere filled with the spirit of adventure and the thought provoking magic that only art can provide.  Bringing us to Celebrate Brooklyn! presented by performing arts nonprofit BRIC and running June through August, many of the concerts are held at the Prospect Park Bandshell and free although five will be ticketed events.  The admission charges for the handful of concerts help underwrite the free shows. Pretty sweet deal for a summers worth of fabulous music in ‘the place to be’.  Pay-for events include The Roots / Jim James (June 18), Belle and Sebastian (July 11), Robert Plant Presents The Sensational Space Shifters (July 27), Barenaked Ladies / Ben Folds Five / Guster (July 30), and Beck (Aug. 4).
