Remember about this CBGB movie we have been talking about? There is news about the casting: First, Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins has been picked to play Iggy Pop.
Despite a vague resemblance, more due to the hairdo than anything else, I really wonder what made them choose this guy, he is not an actor but a drummer! And it’s kind of ridiculous because it looks like they are trying to match current Pop’s straight blond hair, but when he was Hawkins’ age, he didn’t really look like this!
However, nobody really knows how big the role will be, but any appearance-performance by Iggy and the Stooges in the movie should be memorable, so Hawkins will not have an easy task for a first major role.
Also Mickey Sumner (Sting’s daughter), who plays in ‘The Borgias’, was cast to play Patti Smith, Malin Akerman (Watchmen) will play Debbie Harry, Rupert Grint (Harry Potter film series), The Dead Boys’ Cheetah Chrome, Joel David Moore (Avatar), Joey Ramone, and Julian Acosta (numerous TV Series), Johnny Ramone. As announced before, Alan Rickman (Harry Potter film series again!) will be playing Hilly Kristal, the owner of the legendary punk rock venue. Heavy responsibilities for all these people!
