"Calling You" by Blue October Reviewed: Emotional Boy

If a young lady were to send you the lyric to Blue October’s “Calling You” -“I’m just calling you to see if you’re dreaming are you dreaming of me”- you might be very pleased, touched even.

But then if you hear the line the song comes from, you might start thinking a restraining order is more order.

Blue October is really lead singer  Justin Furstenfeld, the most manically depressed man in rock since Manic Street Preacher’s Richey Edwards went for a walk and never came back. Justin is in and out of sanatoriums as he attempts to main control and THIS manifest itself in his music. as an operatic extremism. Every emotion is on the boil. Every thought is a tumble of dread and longing, dreams and liquids, feverish, powerful, overwhelming.

Chicks love it.

Guys? Guys can get a touch uncomfortable.

Listening to “Calling You” is like having a talk with your girlfriend and it stops off normal, but all the emotions slowly escalate.

Do I like it? I love the lyric. And I love the girl. Judge the song for yourself.
