Butch Vig, the producer of Nevermind (ps also the drummer for Garbage) told Rolling Stone: "I'd be balancing the drums and the guitar and Kurt would come and say, 'Turn all the treble off. I want it to sound more like Black Sabbath.' It was kind of a pain in the ass.” according to canoe.ca
This is probably true, even if the quote doesn't prove it. Telling your producer what to do is a time honored tradition (Spector got so pissed he pulled a gun on Lennon). And the end effect was great so if Butch dodged Cobain's suggestions, so much the better.
But what's Butch bothering to bad mouth Nirvana for? They made his career -why bother? Cinema Verite or something?? It is typical RS pimple on the bottom crap. If Butch didn't like Cobain, why did it take the weasel 20 years to say it? Did he forget?
The blabbering Vig continued: "Kurt was charming and witty, but he would go through these mood swings. He would be totally engaged, then all of a sudden a light switch would go off and he'd go sit in the corner and completely disappear into himself. I didn't really know how to deal with that."
Yeah, Kurt, me and every person I've ever met…
