Blue Coupe need some cash. Here is the breakdown
$6000 to hire a producer to mix the album, $2000 to master the recordings including a vinyl single, $500 for graphics and $1800 for manufacturing.
11 thousand dollars for 12 songs. Not a ridiculous amount of money if you think about it but still the fundraising is in full swing. Who is Blue Coupe? Now this is where it gets awkward. Albert and Joe Bouchard of Blue Oyster Cult and Dennis Dunaway from the original Alice Cooper Group. These are legendary performers who are asking for financial help just to record an album- and we aren’t looking for millions- just 11 thousand dollars.
It is shocking to think that there is no one to fund this project. That the fans would be asked to contribute is just uncomfortable and confusing. If you help them they’re going to offer up some incentives like the props to be used in their videos and the person who contributes the most gets the ‘executive producer’ credit on the record.
I’m saddened by this. It seems ok for kids to do, bands just starting out asking their street teams to rally but for men who have played with legends it seems just depressing.
But then again eleven grand is not pennies either. We have seen the success of these fund raisers in Amanda Palmers endeavor. I wish them the best.
