The Beach Boys spoke to Rolling Stone about next years 50t anniversary and so did Brian Wilson, and Ia ggragated it from Consequance Of Sound. This is what brian said: “I don’t really like working with the guys, but it all depends on how we feel and how much money’s involved. Money’s not the only reason I made records, but it does hold a place in our lives.”
Exactly. Well said.
On the other hand, Al Jardine said… hang on, before that, Jardine had a pretty food album last year A Postcard From california, sorta Beach Boys meets Glenn Campbell. Not bad at all.
Anyway, this is what Al said about the reunion: “We’ll do maybe 50 amphitheaters here and 50 or 60 overseas. It’ll be whenever the buyers think is the best time for us. We’re wide open for that.”
Point taken. And any way without carl and Dennis, it isn't really the beach Boys any way even if Brian signs up.
But if he does, let's hope they don't roll out the travelling caravan aka sing the hits with Mike Love, but do a serious, career defining retrospective of their many, many achievements. A two hour extravaganza hitting all of the highlights and many of the more difficult, less popular stuff.
If surf is gonna be up let's make it way way up.
