"Black Friday", Steely Dan. Keep Your Wallet In Your Pants

Katy Lied was an album from legendary band Steely Dan.  Released in 1975 it became one of my favorite albums.  Great harmony and weir nasal vocals.  It was a great album.

On this disc is the song "Black Friday". I found it appropriate to bring up today since some idiots are camped out at WalMart for a Baby Pukes-a-Lot doll for $9.99.

The song has numerous meanings if you look around.  Reference to Friday the 13th, or financial liquidity (yeah I totally used a weird word). Black Friday is also reference to the crash of the Stock Market. Occupy Black Friday?

Gonna do just what I please
Gonna wear no socks and shoes
With nothing to do but feed
All the kangaroos
When Black Friday comes I'll be on that hill
You know I will

uh… ok anyway…doesn't matter..

This song is fantastic.  There is every cool element, shout back lyrics, air guitar solo, Fagans nasal cavity and of course that electronic twitter so retro cool I could scream.

So perhaps you'd prefer Nicki Minaj's "Black Friday" or Rebecca Blacks "Friday" or what have you.  I personally opt for this one.  A fantastic song with fun lyrics that babble on with brow furrowing meaning.

What more can you ask for?  Plus, we don't sing the praises of Steely Dan enough- so lets do it now.

Happy Shopping to the rest of you.
