Have you ever been at a concert and gotten dirty looks because of how you were dressed? Or maybe you were the one giving the dirty look? Why does it have to be that certain “scenes” hate other ones, even if they like the same band?
I understand disliking another person’s taste in music, but to absolutely despise them simply because they like different bands is ridiculous. I for one have gotten tons of dirty looks by snotty girls because I’m wearing my hair a certain way or have different clothes on. But we’re both there for the same band. You’re there to see a show, not judge another kid.
Also, let’s say you google “how to be a (insert scene) kid”. It’ll tell you in multiple articles that, for example, “goths, emos, and punks WILL HATE YOU”. Scene discrimination, no matter how similar musical tastes people have, is so predictable that a how-to web site can warn you before hand.
Well you know what? Self confident people like the way that they look. Why should you judge someone because of what they wear or if they listen to country, pop, screamo, or death metal? You shouldn’t. Someone’s musical taste may just surprise you, and even if its no surprise, live and let live.
