Big Time Concert For Hurricane Sandy Victims Planned For December 12th, 2012 At MSG

I passed on the Paul McCartney featuring "Concert For Heroes" celebrating and raising money for victims of 9-11 in 10-01 at MSG. Why? I could have afforded it if I had to, so why pass? Because I don't like benefit concerts, I don't like having a civics lesson added to my lunch pail.

So I will probably pass on the concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. It will be on December 12th, 2012, so I will be in town (I am leaving to the UK for a week on December 14th. I'll give you the facts in a moment, but first some guesses as to who will be there.

1. Rolling Stones -who are in town the day after at Prudential

2. The Who -touring with Quadrophenia

3. Bruce Springsteen – Representing NJ

4. Justin Timberlake – Just a guess… he has been in town hlping out with his wife and it would be a smart idea.

5. Taylor Swift – she won't be able to resist

6. One Direction – The new album just released? If they can make it they will.

Now here is the info via NYT:

"Proceeds from the concert will be dispensed to people directly affected by the storm through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, the promoters said.

The concert — called simply “12-12-12” — is being produced by James Dolan, the executive chairman of the Madison Square Garden Company; John Sykes, the president of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises; and Harvey Weinstein, the chairman of the Weinstein Company.

The same executives were behind the rock concert on Oct. 20, 2001, that raised more than $30 million for victims of the World Trade Center attacks. That event drew 14,000 people. Among the musicians who performed were Paul McCartney, the Who, Melissa Etheridge, John Mellencamp, Elton John and the Backstreet Boys.

Mikyl Cordova, a spokeswoman for Madison Square Garden, said that the promoters expected to assemble a lineup of similar drawing power for the December concert. Talks with individual musicians are still in the early stages and no firm commitments have been made yet, she said."
