Bad Brains are back, really? Yes! Rolling Stone and other websites are reporting that the mighty ones are about to release a new album entitled ‘Into the Future’ on November 20, their first release since 2007.
The original lineup consisting of frontman H.R., guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson will be featured and Jenifer has already revealed that the new LP ‘shines with a true sense of freedom and musical experimentation, with blends of soulful backgrounds meshed with blistering hardcore and metal riffs, with classic dub’. Meanwhile, H.R. explained to Rolling Stone that his 'vocalizing strengthens the impact of the group's overall deliverance of the music, and the expression of the church of music. The new album wouldn't be an A-plus new album if it hadn't been for the earlier music, which was equally as inspirational. And it gets better and better.'
I was wearing a Bad Brains t-shirt when I was visiting a rock’ n’ roll photo exhibit during the summer, and one of the security guards couldn’t help it, he looked at me and told me with an enthusiasm which was fun to see, ‘The best band I ever seen live! Did you see them?’ Yes, I saw them, and it was as if a hurricane had taken over Sunset boulevard!
Adam Yauch had produced their previous album ‘Build a Nation’, and he was obviously a big fan, so the new album will have a remix of the rasta-fueled last track ‘Peace Be Unto Thee’, as a tribute to the late Beastie Boys.
But you can already listen to the title track of the album, a furious one as expected, with several starts, mad vocals from H. R. and high electricity in the guitars and drums:
