I think they only played one musical piece, at least I did not see them stopping, but this beast lasted for probably 20 or 25 minutes, like a long trip to some devilish country, devastated by distorted and sinister sounds.
The three members of the Iowa city based Aseethe was playing an in-store at Vacation Vinyl on Monday night, and as usual, I had no idea what to expect, and actually didn’t expect this wallpaper-remover soundscape, this dooms-day atmosphere, that they were happy to assemble in the intimate location.
Their monstrous and repetitive sound was very slowly building up, moving like a lethargic heavy dinosaur, buried in a lot of distortion and some demoniac sparse vocals. It was as if they wanted to move mountains with these hefty riffs and Thor-I-am-the-warrior raucous voice, or as if they were announcing the approach of some Godzilla monster, ready to destroy the Earth and rip everything apart.
Actually the only thing they ripped apart was my eardrums as I could not find my earplugs and stepped backward afraid to be knocked out by the sound waves.
There were some breaks during their frightening horror movie soundtrack, which was venturing into some space-odyssey-shoegazing parts, almost solemn, before bursting again into an extremely loud metal explosion.
