The Polaris Music Prize, begun in 2006, is a 30K award for the best Canadian, album regardless of the wheres, whens and hows.
Past winners include Fucked Up and Caribou.
In 2011, Ron Sexsmith and the Weeknd were on the shortlist, both of whom deserved it. But in their infinite wisdom, Polaris chose to give it to Arcade Fire, so their award could have zero meaning for anybody whatsoever.
1. The Suburbs is overrated
2. The money is meaningless to AF.
3. AF have already gotten a Grammy, what's a Polaris in comparison.
4. Both the money and the publicity would've been huge for another band. This was meaningless.
You wanna give egotistical fathead Wim something, give him a kick in the pants.
