Flashback to 2012 when Morrissey was busy puking up blood and cancelling shows. Just a mere 2 years ago I was 100% the man was going to drop dead. Show after show cancellation and doctor warnings of forced retirement fueled the thought.
Now its 2014, we have a new record deal, a best selling book on the shelf and one under pen, reissues and a US tour with some icons of sex appeal..that are selling out.
According to True-To-You.net, Morrissey’s concert at LA Sports Arena has now officially sold out. Shows at Chicago, Boston, San Jose, Wilmington, Austin, Dallas, St Petersburg and Baltimore are also registered as sold out. Whoa, that means your opportunity to see Tom Jones in LA just got much more expensive. The Boston show (which IIIIII will attend) is in a tiny 2700 seat arena and as I write this the massive finale at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center (with Sir Cliff Richards) still has seats available. No surprise there- the venue is a stadium bulit for mega acts- so make the pilgrimage.
This week also saw the reissued remastered refriedbeaned “Your Arsenal” The CD format comes with a bonus DVD of Morrissey’s concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, on October 31st, 1991. Woo woo! Keep in mind this is the release that gave us ‘Glamorous Glue” note this is offered in CD, Vinyl and Digital Download formats for the oddly obsessed.
and finally the release of “Satellite of Love”, the Moz tribute to Lou Reed is still on the charts ‘bum bum bum..’ not a fave in my book but meh, what the hell its good to hear Morrissey back in the game.
New albums and tour cancellations on the horizon……just better not cross of Boston.
