With Haley Reinhart being giving the boot last night, my resident American Idol fan, Larry Schneiderman, he even votes, has stopped watching altogether.
Why?
He claims the numbers are skewered towards the South and that a northerner (nobody from the New York area has ever done squat) can't win. It is live the American civil war writ small and this time the South is going to take it all.
It is impossible to claim that there is any vote fixing though, so what's the complain? I guess it is like a Republican voting in the Presidential election and living in the great city of New York! Sure, you can vote for McCain, but who the fuck cares?
And you can vote for Haley but unless she can improve her drawl she ain't going nowhere. This isn't a guess. Six of the eight winners have been from the South: that is more than a statistical enigma.
Is it that Southerners vote more? Perhaps. But equally perhaps, as Kevin Downey of the Today Show noted, there are less ways for Southerners to break into the record business in the South so maybe the talent pool for a reality show is larger.
Be that as it may, they just lost Larry Schneiderman!
