What exactly warrants a tribute album? A band that's dead or split up or a band that has been around forever, they could potentially earn one. Tributes are done in recognition of great advancement or triumph over adversity.
Alkaline Trio are all well and good but having been around since 1996, do they really deserve tribute? Well, they have a tribute album coming out- two cd's of fun. I don't really think this is really a tribute but rather a way to get a heap of unknown bands some air time in hopes they will earn some coin for the label.
