My friend Melissa Berlin got in touch to introduce me to 22 year old Alexis James. So I checked her out and I couldn't quite get a handle: Alexis seems as comfortable with countryish pop on "Waiting Around For You" as a first class blueser on "Tastes Good" .
However, since I loved both songs, and since I hadn't seen Melissa in ages, I decided to catch Alexis at Irving Plaza on September 17th where she is opening for D Generation. I would have preferred the Pianos (one of my fave rooms) on September 19th but the Saturday was too good to pass on.
I ended up on Alexis FB and found this.
Before Alanis hit it big I saw her perform this song at Tramps and just stomp on it; and it is to Alexis credit just how credible this is.
