Adele has sold more albums than anyone since Usher seven years ago. And in digital years that's a coupla lifetimes ago. I don't get it. I can't hear the attraction. I am, to put it mildly, baffled.
I'm listening to it right now and I wanna smack somebody, the whining, miserable wretch. I wanna punch a hole in the wall, I really do. This is a mega hit? This? It's like the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" of pop: people thinking it shows they have depth when all they have is a lemmings fetish.
If it wasn't for rock nyc, I'd have given up on it after the first couple of days but since I am so deeply involved in pop culture I've surfered though the fucking piece of crap over and over gain. Her voice makes my skin crawl and her songs are car wrecks of emotional fascism.Helen says people love to feel bad and maybe, BUT NOT THIS BAD.
This is straight off Reuters:""21," released by independent British label XL Recordings, sold more than 5 million copies. The last time an album topped the year-end chart with more than 5 million copies sold was in 2004, when Usher's "Confessions" moved 7.9 million, according to Nielsen Soundscan."
How big was 21? The 3% increase in record sales in 2011is attributed to it.
Why? I don't know. i don't understand it.
