I heard about this gig weeks ago from rock nyc’s Joseph Mcelroy but was sworn to secrecy, but Vampire Weekend’s performance on PBS concert and interview “Live From The Artist Den” performance on Tuesday, in one of the best acoustic room in the city, should be absolutely great and that’s a relief. Because Vampire Weekend, who can be inconsistent on stage, weren’t all the good at Barclay Center earlier this year. Tuesday somewhere in midtown!!!
Monday – Rod Stewart – Madison Square Garden – Last time I saw Rod, he was at this venue and he collected my best concert of 2011 award. With one of the best albums of the year under his belt, I expect great things from this gig.
Monday – Lupe Fiasco – Irving Plaza – Lupe coulda broken huge but he is such an agit-prop up against the wall guy who makes too many enemies. No predictions about hsi live act but you should represent any way.
Monday – P!nk – Barclay Center – Not the best Arena show of the year (that would be Swift) but the most all encompassing experience out there
Monday – Cyndi Lauper – Highline – If the Beacon was too big for you, try this intimate gig!
Tuesday – Lauryn Hill – Bowery Ballroom – You can’t fool all the people all the time, but you can try
Tuesday – WFUV Holiday Cheer – Beacon – If Iron Wine, Calexico and Nick Lowe were in a boat and the boat sank sank who would be saved? Nick Lowe because the Jesus Of Cool walks on water.
Thursday – Marshall Crenshaw – Mexicali Live – About time Crenshaw played a Manhattan gig , right? And not at City Winery either.
Friday – A John Waters Christmas – Stage 48 – Love this director, Broadway writer, camp specialist, gay spokesman and, yes, Homer’s friend on the Simpsons.
Friday – MGMT – Barclay Center – It has been a long time since “Kids” and the last album was very iffy but still…
Friday – Z-100s Jingle Ball – MSG – Their worst bill in years, but still Miley, Robin Thicke, Fall Out Boy… it isn’t Elvs Duran’s fault 2013 sucked.
Saturday – Ginuwine – BB Kings – Same ol’ G?
Saturday – QOTSA – Barclay Center – Sure I have a ticket, but not sure I wanna use it
Saturday – Lloyd Banks – Stage 48 – Beamer Benz and Bentley!!!
