Most shows I got to I am at floor level. I’m not complaining on the contrary I truly enjoy being kicked in the head and have some guys enormous armpit in my face, I do.
From that vantage you pretty much cant see whats going on in the pit. You see the victims shove out. You see the pathetic girlie girls (who shouldn’t have been there in the first place) crying on the way out.
At last nights Avenged Sevenfold show I watched the concert from a private balcony. Not unlike the Roman Colosseum days looking down upon the gladiators.
There were moments I wondered if I could survive a balcony dive. I considered throwing the Magpie or The boy off the side to see if they could surf it. They’re frail. So I didn’t.
What I did though is try to take a photograph to show you the riot on the floor.
There’s a great line in the film Rude Boy, by The Clash where the concert promoters stop the show. Mick Jones steps up and says ‘leave them alone their dahhhnicng not fighting they’re daaaaaaaaaahncing.” so cute.
Rude Boy was 1980. 30 years later ‘the pit’ is an accepted location. Guards ease you out.
At this particular show the lead singer of All That Remains draws attention to the security crew saying .. ‘be good to them, they’re here to protect you. you’re here to keep them busy’
Well put.
So here you go.. here’s the ‘dancing’ from last night. I had to tweak up the brightness as my birds nest was dim. But, the kids are alright.
Sorta makes you love rock and roll don’t it.
