If you are looking at this turkey in slide show, it's head has probably been cut off. But don't worry. Victoria, is safe and sound after being adopted by rock nyc co-editor Helen Bach. One small step for man, one giant waddle for mankind.
Victoria and I have that in common. We got adopted by Helen, who has left her indelible imprint on rock nyc and without whom I might have given up on it years ago. And for that I give thanks. She is also my partner in the enterprise as are Joseph Franklin and Donna McELroy . Joseph and Donna are behind the scenes but within the publishing community they ARE rock nyc. They took us screaming and shouting out of the stoneage.
Also, I give thanks for writers Mary Magpie and Alyson Camus, who have been with us for years. We've had many writers come and go from rock nyc, it is really tiring, writing nonstop for years. I mean literally non stop, We publish new material every day of the year. Both Alyson and Mary are world class writers and I am very lucky to have them.
And I give thanks to rock nyc as a website, I give a lot to it but I get more back. When I began rock nyc in April 2009, I had already spent my life obsessed with pop music and thought I knew so much, I could share it with other people. But these last years have been a tremendous learning experience for me. Monitoring the industry, the charts, the underground, music distribution: this is all new to me, I don't think there has ever been a time in my life I could look at Billboard's Hot 100 and have a working knowledge of every song on it. I can now.
But most of all I give thank's for our readers. It is such an ambiguous concept but I know you're out there. I'm even friendly with some of you (hi, Chuck). WITHOUT YOU I'M NOTHING.
