despite Lou Reed. Harsh yeah, but I for one have always found Lou to be a bit annoying. Always trying to talk banter with his art school prose. Bored me to tears. I have also found that most hardcore Reed fans are posers too. They shop at Pier 1 if ya know what I mean.
Anyway, Macy Gray and Lou Reed are headlining this years "Great Night in Harlem" an annual fundraiser for Jazz Foundation to benefit the Jazz Musicians Emergency Fund. Nice one. This is the 10th annual event to be held at the Apollo Theater on May 19th.
This year’s lineup also includes Roberta Flack, Dr. John
This year’s lineup also includes Roberta Flack, Dr. John, Christian McBride and Hot 8 Brass Band. Over 40 legends of jazz, R&B, blues, and rock ’n’ roll are scheduled to perform including some “incredible last minute surprises.”, but that could be Lou Reeds ego.
Tickets to the concert are available through the Jazz Foundation’s website and range in price from $55 to $1,500. The $500 balcony tickets include entry to the VIP after-party, and the $1,500 orchestra tickets include entry to the cocktail party, gala dinner and VIP after-party.
Does anyone remember when being a VIP meant you had some sort of connection or were a dignitary or guest? Now it means you have a deep pocket. How lame… how Lou Reed! Great cause, go on, treat yourself to VIP status…poser.
