Must See: The Killers At Barclay Center In May, 2013

Of all the big bands in the world, from Radioplay to U2, the Killers are easily the smallest. Indeed, they are so small it is hard to remember that they are a big band. Never before has a band fallen from grace before they've ever reached a grace period at all. They have the cumbersomeness of size which of the litheness you would associate with it.

Everything about the Killers is other, their Las Vegas base, their Mormonism, their weird conglom of Bruce Springsteen and a snack bar. Or maybe Meat Loaf leading Blue October, -something like that. One thing is for sure, there isn't much that rings very true or maybe I am just cynical. Maybe all this family love and failed romance stuff really means something to someone.

Anyway, apparently it translates pretty well on stage and while I am a pass with the exception of a "Human" here and there, a complete pass on Brandon and friends, they did sell out MSG and it might translate really well on stage. Maybe when you are screaming your pain on the top of your voice perhaps the best thing you can do is fine an Arena to shout it out and when you are a Mormon in Las Vegas perhaps you are a great representatives for the misplaced minions of rock and roll.

The Killers are playing a Saturday night gig, may 18th, at Barclay center and I am gonna check it out. I don't expect much but I expect something and the Killers are a band I feel as though I misunderstand on record.I think they have a secret and I will only be able to unlock it on stage. Now, that doesn't mean it will be a good secret or that it will make me like them. Perhaps I can just hope it will be make me understand what I don't like very much.

Plus, it takes guts to be the only rock and roll Mormon (if you don't include that bloke from  American idol). It takes backbone to be a contrarian or enthused theologian or even care about this stuff at all.
