Gigwise Best First Albums… And Ours!!

Our pals (Pals? They are the Senior in High School who passes us in the hall completely oblivious to our existence… er, so is everybody else) at Gigwise had their readers vote on the best first albums by artists of all time. And, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea what drugs they were on when they voted:

1.       Hot Fuss – The Killers

2.       Showbiz – Muse

3.       Definitely Maybe – Oasis

4.       Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m not – Arctic Monkeys

5.       Please Please Me – The Beatles

OK, did I mention Gigwise is a UK website?  Makes a bit more sense now though the Killers? I think I missed the entire Killers infatuation. At the time, I thought “Mr. Brightside” was cute enough; a sorta novelty song for losers. But I didn't’t much attention to the rest of the album. So imagine my surprise upon discovering they were a Mormon U2… also my indifference.

The Beatles make sense and hey, finally a “best of” list Oasis has beaten em in. As for Muse and Arctic Monkeys…  well, I guess you had to be there.

However, here is a real just about random and in no order whatsoever best first albums ever.

My Aim Is True – Elvis Costello

Are You Experienced – The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Never Mind The Bollocks Here’s The Sex Pistols

Ready To Die – Notorious BIG

The Fame – Lady Gaga

Goblin – Tyler The Creator

Titus Andronicus – Titus Andronicus

Bleach – Nirvana

Yo! Bum Rush The Floor – Public Enemy

First Edition – Public Image Ltd.

In The City – The Jam

Live At The Witch Trials – The Fall

I could go on, I didn't’t mention Patti Smith or Blondie or the New York Dolls, Velvet Underground
