The Vans Warped Tour is the highlight of the music-lover’s summer and, with the bands that have been announced so far, I don’t see any reason why this year should be different. The most recent bands announced included For The Foxes, Goldfinger (June 15th-23rd), For The Foxes, Defeater (July 12th-August 4th), New Years Day, Outasight and Stephan Jacobs. This latest announcement shows, I think, the great thing about Warped Tour: little known groups like For The Foxes play alongside well established bands like Goldfinger. It’s this aspect of the whole “discovering new music at Warped” thing that I love (rather than being harassed by rude kids at the gate shoving headphones at you).
These bands now join 32 others of varying genres that will play the stages at Warped 2013. Personally, I expect fantastic shows out of VersaEmerge, Forever the Sickest Kids, Big Chocolate, Hawthorne Heights, The Story So Far, and MC Lars –many of whom I’ve seen live before and can’t wait to see again.
The next band announcement is coming in just a couple days, on Friday January18th, and I know I’m not alone in keeping my fingers crossed, hoping a certain few bands will pop up on the list. I’ll finish with one of my Warped Tour Tips: Listen to as many bands from the lineup as you can before your city’s Warped Tour date and make a list of at least 5 bands that sounded worthwhile so that you can make a point of seeing them on the day. Who knows, you might fall in love with a band when you see them live or meet them for a photo op.
