Johnny Marr "Upstarts" Video Review

Oh my word I didn't want this to happen.  Hit the play button and wanted to hate this and rip it to shreds.  The problem is I can, and I cant.

Lets start with the video.  Marr looks old and if he doesn't lose that haircut soon he's going to be in the Rod Stewart hall of fame of unchanged coiffures.   Fake tanned and aged he's discomfort in front of a camera is so painfully obvious. Are they in a prison center yard?  The signature straddle and bend look sorta silly on an elder gentry.  The sweater from his gran doesn't up his cool factor.  The band looks bored the titling camera angles are cliche' as are the lights and the simplistic color is a snooze.

Now- lets take a hear of the song.  Mind you I opened this in a separate window to do so.  I don't want to see that hot mess cheap budget video and this song doesn't need it,  The tune is freakin awesome!  I love Marrs vocals and the upbeat dance backing.  It sounds so retro but without the same old 60s pop echo-dig?  I have a hard time actually conveying how much damage this video does to the integrity of the song so I will humbly request that you NOT watch it- just don't.

Instead listen to this song and join me as I get ultra pumped for the release of Marr's first solo album (yup for real first one)
