David Bowie Tops ITUNES UK… US? Not So Good

David Bowie's deliriously received single "Where Are We Now" ( was rock nyc the only people to be less than excited? Everybody seems to be parsing their words carefully) entered the UK Itunes charts at # 1 and saw a spurt in sales of his back catalog. However, it didn't reach the US Top 10 which leads me to the belief that Bowie isn't really gonna sell boatloads of this kinda sad little song.

On the other, the actual album is at #4 in the US just from presales, and with Tony Visconti in tow you would expect something a little poppier than what we all know you are going to get. Look, Heroes wasn't a pop album either, people mistake it for a pop album because the lead single was such a big hit.

I think we are gonna get Heroes/Lodger and not Low (though Low is one of my own personal fave albums of all time). I don't really expect Let's Dance and I am glad I am not getting Tin Machine, but still, after all this time, how about some crossover, guy? The Berlin trilogy were not as great as people remember. It foes like this:

Low – A+

Heroes – B

Lodger – C+

No really, all there is on Lodger is "Boys Keep Swinging" and that is no "Always Crashing In The Same Car" now is it? Don't let time rob you of your Bowie… when I get a minute I will review em all for you and you can judge for yourself. His best song in the past 30 years was a cover of Jonathan Richman's "Pablo Picasso"!

Where was I? Still happy to have new material? Absolutely. Surprised he didn't hit the US Top 10? Not likely. Think he's gonna tour? Sincerely doubt it.
